In the San Francisco Bay Area many homes built 40-60 years ago have hardwood floors that have been covered for years under carpet.  When our home staging company consults with homeowners getting ready to market their homes one of the questions we ask is "Are there hardwood floors under the carpet?".....particularly if the carpet is old, dated, stained and/or in need of replacement.

While at one time it was the "fashion" to cover and protect the floors....today buyers want to see and enjoy the value hardwood brings to a home. 

This modest home in Martinez had original hardwood floors which had been covered for almost 60 years.  The carpet was old, dated and not a selling feature.  While the seller was initially reluctant to remove the carept....once it was removed the floors are in pristine condition and the TOP selling feature of the home!
